QUIGLY, Marjory 1

  • Born: About 1816, Ireland
  • Died: April 1844, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland 2

Another name for Marjory was QUIGLEY, Marjory.

  General Notes:

In November 1825 Marjory Quigly, along with John Quigly, was a sponsor at the baptism of John Lafferty, son of James Lafferty and Margaret McKenna.
Note: This may be another Marjory, because her age would be rather low, but sponsors often were youngsters.

In St Mirin's Paisley on the 23 October 1836 Rev Dr John Murdoch confirmed a person called Marjory Quigly.

In the 1841 census for Paisley, a young woman, named Majey or Marjory, was living in Underwood Street. She was a cotton spinner, aged in the 25-30 years age range. She was born in Ireland. She lived with five other young women, two of whom were Quigleys, Catherine and Susannah. The others were Margaret Harkin, Catherine McInulty and Margaret Forester. Only the latter was born in Scotland.

In 1844 the death of Marjory Quigley was listed in the obituary list of St Mirin's RC Church, Paisley, Renfrewshire.

No absolute proof exists as yet that these are all the same Marjory Quigley but it seems probable. 3 4
