  General Notes:

1841 the census for Airdrie in Lanarkshire recorded two men aged 40-44 years, two men aged 20-24 years, one woman aged 21 years, and a baby of 1 year of age. All except the baby were born in Ireland. The men were all ironstone miners. It being the 1841 census no relationships were given. The household lived in the Rawyards district of Airdrie, and were very probably this family. Hellen Quin was aged 21 years.

John Queen and Ellen Vallaley were the baptismal sponsors at the baptism of Thomas Queen, lawful son of William Queen and Mary Vallaley by Fr Daniel Gallagher at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie in 5 September 1841. Thomas was born on 21 August 1841. 2 3 5


Helen married John QUINN, son of William QUINN and Mary O'BRIAN, in February 1839 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (John QUINN was born in 1819 in Ireland 2.)

The marriage was contracted between Helen Valloly and John McQueen in New Monkland parish.


July 1844

This marriage was a regularisation within the Roman Catholic rites of the marriage performed earlier. It was recorded in Latin by Fr William Walsh, who performed the ceremony, in the papers of St Margaret's RC Church which was not created until after 1839 .
