In 1880 William's daughter Agnes was born. It was he who gave notice of her birth at Hamilton on 29 March 1880. His occupation was recorded in her birth certificate as coal-miner.

William McNaughton was a coal miner according to the marriage certificate of his daughter Agnes in 1905. He was deceased by then.

William's daughter Agnes died in 1931. Her death certificate recorded her father as 'William McNaughton coal hewer deceased'. 2 4 5
