Peter Weir was the head of the household, recorded by the census of 1861, living at Kirkfieldbank, Lesmahagow that comprised himself, his wife Margaret, his mother in law, and his nephew James Hendrie. Peter was a cotton weaver, aged 30, and had been born in Lesmahagow. ²

Peter married Margaret HENRY, daughter of James HENRY and Unity JAMIESON, on 7 November 1852 in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Margaret HENRY was born in 1831 in Ireland ^{2 3}.)
