The 1880 US Census recorded Caroline Harriman aged 18 years, living with her three year old daughter, Lena, in San Francisco, California. Separately recorded at San Francisco, California was Harris A. Harriman, a soldier aged 28 years, living in community with other soldiers. Caroline's bithplace was recorded as Washington Territory, and her occupation as keeping house. The entry recorded both her parents as having been born in France. ¹
