  General Notes:

The US Census for 1880 recorded Peter living with a cohort of military musicians in Vancouver City, in Clark County, Washington. Most of them had been born in Europe. Peter himself was born in Oregon State, but his father and mother had been born in France. His age was recorded then as 28 years, and his occupation as 'musician'.

Peter Damphoffer was listed in the Multnomah County 1890 Census Index.

The author of 'Clark County Pioneers' noted in a Genforum entry that Peter was a musician in the 21st Infantry Band, Fort Vancouver, in Washington State, USA. She also noted his birth year as 1858, which is later than the age given in the 1880 US Census suggests.

Noted events in his life were:

1. Enlistment in Army, 1873.

2. Participation: Spanish War, 1898.

Peter married Ellen QUIGLEY, daughter of Arthur QUIGLY and Jane THOMSON, on 5 February 1877 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington State, USA. (Ellen QUIGLEY was born in 1862 in Wahkiakum, Washington State, USA.)
