Beatrix married Sir William SINCLAIR of Herdmanston, son of John SINCLAIR of Herdmanston and Marion COCKBURN.1 (Sir William SINCLAIR of Herdmanston was born about 1490 and died Candlemas 1530 1.) Marriage Notes: "Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston was seised in these lands 25 October 1513, and had a charter under the Great Seal, on his own resignation, in favour of himself and Beatrix Renton his spouse, of the dominical lands of Herdmanston, Myltoun, and Wester Pencaitland in East Lothian, and Myddyll in Berwickshire on 30 July 1522 .... He married Beatrix Renton, probably a daughter of David Renton of Billie, and had issue." Beatrix next married William CRICHTON of Drylaw, son of Sir Patrick CRICHTON of Cranston-Riddell and Unknown.1 2 The marriage ended in divorced 1536. (William CRICHTON of Drylaw was born about 1490.) Marriage Notes: "Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston .... married Beatrix Renton .... She survived him and married, secondly, William Crichton of Drylaw, from whom she was divorced on account of adultery with his brother James Crichton of Cranston Riddell, captain of Edinburgh Castle" Beatrix next married Edward SINCLAIR 4th of Dryden, son of Sir John SINCLAIR 3rd of Dryden and Katherine RAMSAY 'of Polton', on 23 April 1551.1 (Edward SINCLAIR 4th of Dryden was born about 1495.) Marriage Notes: "Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston .... married Beatrix Renton .... She survived him and married, secondly, William Crichton of Drylaw, from whom she was divorced ....; thirdly, before 23 April 1551, Edward Sinclair of Dryden." |
