   User ID: Z564.

George married Daughter KEITH 'of Ravenscraig' before 1623.1 (Daughter KEITH 'of Ravenscraig' was born about 1605.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Anna (Gordon) was the second wife of George Gordon of Tilphoudie, whose first wife was a daughter of ------- Keith of Ravenscraig. It may be noticed that Anna's grandmother was a Keith of Ravenscraig."

from Lesmoir

Note:

According to
The Records of Aboyne
"
George of Tilphoudie married, first, Anna Keith, the widow of Mr.
Alexander Keith, minister of Duffus."

This, it seems, is a confusion of the first laird of Tilphoudie and this George Gordon, the fourth laird. The first laird married Anna Sutherland who was the widow of John Keith, minister of Duffus.

However there were two other ministers named Alexander Keith, both of whom served the parish of Strathbrock or Uphall. They were grandson and great-grandson respectively of Andrew Keith of Ravenscraig through Andrew's illegitimate son James, so they were of the family mentioned in the Lesmoir reference. The wife of this George Gordon may have been a daughter of the elder of the two ministers.

George next married Anna GORDON, daughter of Sir James GORDON elder fiar of Lesmoir and Helen URQUHART.1 (Anna GORDON was born about 1617, died after 31 May 1683 5 and was buried in Strathbogie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Anna (Gordon) was the second wife of George Gordon of Tilphoudie, whose first wife was a daughter of ------- Keith of Ravenscraig .... Tilphoudie was sixty-one when he married Anna Gordon (Tilphoudie MS.)."

from Lesmoir

"When 61 years of age, and a year after the death of Anna Keith, by whom he had no issue, George (Gordon) of Tilphoudie married Ann, daughter of James Gordon, the grandson of Sir James Gordon of Lesmore. By this lady (whom her son describes as a 'bigot Roman Catholic ') he had an only child, John."
