General Notes: "By a contract of sale, dated 25th March, 1597, Alexander Irvine of Beltie disponed and granted a charter of the lands and town of Easter Beltie, the hill and mill of Beltie, also Wester Beltie, Torfins, Sundayswells, etc., to Alexander Irvine of Drum, the price being eleven thousand five hundred merks." Alexander married 2nd Daughter FORBES, daughter of Patrick FORBES 3rd of Corse and Marjory LUMSDEN.1 (2nd Daughter FORBES was born about 1534.) Marriage Notes: "The five daughters (of Patrick Forbes of Corse) married respectively : (r) Garioch of Kinstair; (2) Irvine of Beltie; (3) Walter Curror of Inchdrewer; (4) Walter Barclay of Drumdelgie; (5) the youngest, Elizabeth, married William Leith of Whitehaugh." Alexander next married Christian DOUGLAS, daughter of Archibald DOUGLAS 2nd of Glenbervie and Agnes KEITH, 23 May 1555(contract).2 (Christian DOUGLAS was born about 1534 and died about 1568 2.) Marriage Notes: "Christian (Douglas), who married Alexander Irvine, younger of Beltie. In their marriagecontract, which is dated at Banchory Ternan, 23d May 1555, Archibald Douglas of Glenbervie, and Robert Irvine of Beltie, agree that Alexander Irvine, grandson and apparent heir of Robert, or failing him his brother, Robert Irvine, junior, should marry Christian, or failing her, Jane Douglas, with a tocher of seven hundred merks. Christian Irvine died about 1568." |
