"Crawfurd quotes a Findlater writ to prove that Walter's marriage to Margaret Sinclair, heiress of Deskford, took place in 1437, but he was Lord of Deskford in 1436, when he presented plate and vestments to the altar of St. John the Evangelist in the cathedral church of Aberdeen." (pages 16-17)
"He (Walter Ogilvy) married, at least as early as 1436, when he is described as Lord of Deskford, Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir John Sinclair of Deskford and Findlater. The marriage may have been in 1435. He had a charter, 11 August 1440, of the lands and baronies of Deskford and Finlater, to himself and his wife, who had resigned them while still in sua virginitate." (page 17)
