John Cathie was a shoemaker. He and Thomas Mitchell, both shoemakers, were witnesses at the baptism of John Jack, son of John Jack and May, or Marion, Mitchel in 1749. 2


John married Janet MITCHEL, daughter of David MITCHEL and Margaret HASTIE, on 28 July 1747 in Inveresk With Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 (Janet MITCHEL was born on 12 April 1724 in Penicuik parish, Midlothian, Scotland 3 and was baptised on 20 April 1724 in Penicuik parish, Midlothian, Scotland 1 3.)
