LOCHHEAD, Alexander ¹

  General Notes:

Alexander Lochhead was a gardener according to the 1862 marriage certificate of his son John.

In 1886 when his son John died, his death certificate recorded Alexander as a spirit merchant. The death certificate did not indicate that Alexander was deceased at that time.

Alexander married Agnes WILLIAMSON. (Agnes WILLIAMSON was born about 1815.)

  Marriage Notes:

No marriage has been found for Alexander Lochhead and Agnes Williamson, the latter being the name given to John Lochhead's mother in 1862 in his marriage certificate. There is however a marriage between Alexander Lochhead and Agnes Boyd, this last being the name given to John Lochhead's first daughter at her baptism in 1862: Agnes Boyd Lochhead.

The marriage between Agnes Boyd and Alexander Lochhead was recorded in the parish records of Dunlop, Ayrshire and Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire on 29 May 1807. This marriage may be connected with John Lochhead and his family. Agnes may have remarried, but, probably more likely, she may be a grandmother of John who was born about 1841 or 1842, and therefore a relative of Alexander Lochhead rather than Agnes Williamson.. ²
