ORIGINS

A history and genealogy of the family of Baillie of Dunain states on page 15:

"Alexander Baillie. the eldest son of Sir William Baillie of Hoprig and Lamington and [sobel Seton, was rewarded by his cousin the Earl of Huntley, for his bravery in the battle of Brechin. 1452, with the barony of Dunain and other castle lands near Inverness, and thus did this illustrious scion of an ancient and noble family of undoubted roya] descent, become the starling point of the eminent family of Baillie of Dunain,"

It may be that this Alexander Baillie was related to the Baillies of Lamington, but the dates suggest that the couple mentioned above were not his parents.

Alexander married Catherine GRANT, daughter of Sir Duncan GRANT of Freuchie and Unknown.1 2 (Catherine GRANT was born about 1448.)
