"The seventh in direct descent from the said Duncan was George Cumyn, born about the year 1600. He succeeded to the family estate, and was also a merchant trader in the burgh of Elgin, and for thirty years provost thereof. He married Marjorie, daughter of William Leslie of Kinninvie, by whom he had,
1, William his heir [2, George, minister of Essie, near Speymouth, from 1678-1723, who married a daughter of Archibald Geddes of Essie, by whom he had two sons, both clergymen in the Church of
England]. His eldest daughter married King of Newmill, Provost of Elgin.
His second daughter married John Hay, Dean of Moray."
