18. Supplement. Servants' Wages. John Straquhan and Wm. Straquhan v. Andrew Smith in Monecht. Each Pursuer had a separate claim and founded upon a different Act of Court. The Act founded on by John Straquhan was one of the lands of 'Monecht Littill and Meikill Finnersies and third pairt thairof pertaining to Alexr. Blackhall haulden 'on 28 July, 1641, in terms of which the Defender had been ordained to pay I4/-, 10 quarters harden or 10/-, 'ane pair new schoone' or 6/- and 40d. 'borrowit silver' for 'ane halft' yeiris fie.' The other Act of Court was dated 18 February, 1643, by which Wm. Straquhan, sometime servitor to the Defender, was found entitled to 3 ells sufficient gray cloathe or 18/- per ell, 3 ells new harden cloathe or 4/- per ell and 4/8 'for tua pair new schoone.'"

from Records of the Sheriff Court of Aberdeenshire

Note: Although the text does not identify John and William as brothers, the context strongly suggests it.
