"JOHN SCOT of Loch, born 1651, son of John S., burgess of Forres; educated at King s College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1671) ; became tutor in the family of Grant of Ballindalloch; passed trials before the Presb. of Aberlour and recommended to the bishop for licence 23rd May 1677; app. chaplain to the Bishop of Moray; pres. by Alexander, Earl of Moray, before 28th March, passed trials before the Presb. and recommended to the bishop for ordination 25th April, and ord. May 1683; died June 1726. He marr. (1) Marjory (died 23rd Dec. 1696), daugh. of Walter Stuart of Ryland, Alvah, and had issue James, Episcopal clergyman in Virginia, U.S.A., born 1715; Alexander, also Episcopal clergyman in Virginia, born 1716, died 1737; Robert; Catherine (marr. Alexander Gordon of Crombie) : (2) before April 1698, Euphemia (died 12th July 1709), daugh. of John Gordon of Auchynachie, Keith, and widow of Robert Gordon of Cairnfield, Rathven : (3) Helen, daugh. of Alexander Grant of Conrach, Rothes. She died in 1780, having
John married Marjory STUART, daughter of Walter STEWART of Ryland, in Alvah Parish Banffshire and Isobell MITCHELL. (Marjory STUART was born about 1656 and died on 23 December 1696.)
John next married Euphemia GORDON, daughter of John GORDON 2nd Laird of Auchindachy and Eupham BEATON, before April 1698. (Euphemia GORDON was born about 1645 and died on 12 July 1702 1.)
John next married Helen GRANT, daughter of Alexander GRANT of Conrach in Rothes and INNES of Arndilly. (Helen GRANT was born about 1690 and died in 1780.)
