"On 7 November 1545, he (Alexander Hay 5th Laird of Delgaty) granted a Charter of Auchinschogill to Janet Forbes Countess of Atholl (Great Seal, No. 3193). Janet was the daughter of John 6th Lord Forbes (Scots Peerage, IV. 55) and had married in 1542, John 3rd Earl of Atholl, who died within six months, and after the death of Alexander Hay, her second husband, she married as his first wife, John Leslie of Balquhain, 9 January 1547/8 (Great Seal, 20 Feb. 1547/8; Records of the Family of Leslie, III. 46)."

Janet next married Alexander HAY 5th Laird of Delgaty, son of Alexander HAY 4th Laird of Delgaty and Ardendraught and Elizabeth ABERNETHY, in November 1545.¹ (Alexander HAY 5th Laird of Delgaty was born about 1511 ⁴ and died in 1546.)
