  General Notes:

James Murray was the householder recorded living with his family at 54 Greenend, in Old Monkland Parish East, Lanarkshire, by the census of 1881. With him lived his wife, Catherine, and three young daughters, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary. James Murray worked as a coal miner and had been born in Airdrie, a town within walking distance of Greenend. He was recorded as 38 years of age.

When his daughter, Catherine, married in 1896, James Murray was recorded as a coal miner by occupation. 1


James married Catherine CLEMENTS on 27 January 1870 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Catherine CLEMENTS was born in 1852 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died after 31 December 1896 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Father Michael O'Keeffe CC was the celebrant. Patrick Moran and Margaret McAleavy were the witnesses.

James Murray was a 28 years old bachelor who lived at Sheepford Locks. he worked as a coal miner. His father was deceased.

Catherine Clements worked as a domestic servant and lived at Greenend. She was single and 18 years of age.

The marriage was registered in Coatbridge on 29 January 1870, James Mitchell being the registrar.
