  General Notes:

The 1881 census for Shotts parish recorded Michael Connor as the head of a household living at 43 Omoa Square in the village of Cleland. His wife, and their three daughters and one son, lived there too. Michael worked as a coalminer. He was recorded as 52 years of age and born in Ireland.

Michael O'Connor was a coal miner, according to the marriage certificate of his daughter, Mary Ann O'Connor, in 1881, and her death certificate in 1904.

When Jane McDonnell died in 1885, her death certificate recorded her as 'married to Michael O'Connor coalminer'.

Michael's daughter, Elizabeth, married in 1886, and in her marriage certificate Michael was noted as a coalminer by occupation.

Michael O'Connor was a coal miner, according to the marriage certificate of his daughter, Hannah, in 1889.

When Michael O'Connor died in 1901, his death certificate recorded him as a coal miner and the widower of Jane McDonald. His recorded age at death was 56 years. Both of his parents were deceased.

Peter O'Connor, Michael's son, married for a second time in 1907. His marriage certificate recorded his father as 'Michael O'Connor, coalminer deceased'. 1 2 4 5 6 8 9 10

Michael O'Connor, son of the deceased man, resident at Newarthill, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, William McGill, at Cleland on 23 December 1901. 4

Michael married Jane McDONNELL, daughter of James McDONNELL and Anne HIGGINS. (Jane McDONNELL was born about 1833 in Ireland 5 8 and died 15 August 1885 at 6.15 pm in Omoa Square, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland 6 8.). The cause of her death was erysipelas over 6 days.
