In 1861 Margaret O'Brien lived at 41 Omoa Square Cleland with terrence O'Brien and daughters Mary and Margaret, aged 8 months and 5 years respectively. Her husband Terrence was recorded as 35 years old, born in Ireland, and worked as a blast furnace keeper. She was 24 years old and had been born in Greenock.

In 1871 Torrance O'Brian, aged 47 years, his wife Margaret, and their children, Margaret, Thomas, Maria and Sarah, were living at 83 Long Row, Coatbridge. He was a furnace man.

In the 1881 census this woman was living at 129 Omoa Square, Cleland, also called Furnace Row. She was recorded as 42 years old by the census and had been born in Greenock. With her lived Thomas, her son aged 14 years, and her daughter, Maria, aged 11 years. ^{3 6}

Margaret married Tarry O'BRIEN in June 1853 in Dalbeth Chapel, Old Monkland Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (Tarry O'BRIEN was born about 1823 in Ireland ⁷.)
