  General Notes:

Agnes Quigley with her husband and four children were recorded by the 1861 census living at Fardihill Colliery in Kilmaurs parish, Ayrshire. Agnes was aged 32 years and had been born in Ireland. Her work consisted of household duties.

The 1891 census recorded a widow called Agnes Quigley aged 63 years living at 27 Fore Street Kilmarnock. She had been born in Ireland. Her unmarried son Hugh, aged 37 years , lived with her. He had been born in Kilmarnock Ayrshire and was employed as a pit engine keeper. Their house had one windowed room. 5

sponsor at baptism, 29 January 1854, St Mirin's RC Chapel, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Mary, daughter of James Donochy and Mary Donochy, was born on 20 Dec 1853 and baptised by Fr John McLachlan. James Quigley and Cath. Donochy were her sponsors.

NOTE This may be Agnes with her husband, ie an error by the priest, or it may be a sister or cousin.

Agnes married James QUIGLAY, son of James QUIGLAY and Catherine McQUELLAN, on 12 December 1851 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (James QUIGLAY was born about 1822 in County Monaghan, Ireland 1 7 and died 11 February 1867 at 8.00 am in 25 Fore Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 8.). The cause of his death was typhoid fever of 11 days' duration.

  Marriage Notes:

The couple married at St Joseph's RC Church, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire by Fr Thomas Wallace on 12 December 1851 and were inscribed in his records as James Quigly and Agnes Donley.

James was born in County Monaghan, Ireland and Agnes in County Derry. The witnesses were William McQuillan and Mary Donley. 1
