SOME INFORMATION ABOUT PATRICK'S PEOPLE

This website is largely my own work with contributions from other researchers who have contacted me and shared information from their research. Sincere thanks is due to each person for their kindness in contributing in this way.

The website was named originally for one of my ancestors, Patrick Quigly, born 17 March 1824 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, and of Irish descent.

Patrick's People is a pedigree family tree of legitimate and illegitimate offspring, showing blood and marriage links over generations, drawing on a variety of resources.

It is generated from Legacy Family Tree software (Legacy Family Tree Genealogy Software) based on the data formatted in a database of the same system. Occasionally, this produces certain anomalies of format or expression which are beyond the webmaster's control.

The files published on the site are at the discretion of the webmaster and feature only people who were born at least 100 years prior to the year in which the site is published.

The website is based on my working database. Accuracy is a priority, but, undoubtedly, there have been and will be unintended mistakes of facts, understanding and/or in typography. These will be rectified, when noted, as soon as is feasible, and as time allows.

Files were written over a period of about twenty five years, some when the researcher's knowledge and understanding of family history was in its infancy.

Files are being reviewed to check and update them. The process of reviewing the files is ongoing, so interested users should check back from time to time in case file contents change.

Some individual or family files have very scant information, others have more. The content of files may vary from time to time as files are updated for greater accuracy and detail, or as family links are uncovered.

Where exact dates are found they are published; some dates are rendered as "about" a particular year and these should be treated always with caution and as a possible guide only, not least because they may be subject to change as more information is ucovered.

Spouses and children are included where known, but users should be aware that some spouses or children may not have been found or, if found, not included either for reasons of space, or for some other reason.

The index of names' and the surnames' lists contain alternative spellings for people who feaure in the files; titles may be noted

A system of user IDs (eg User ID: F105) is being introduced gradually, for reference. These will be found in the individual page file under the person's name, but, unfortunately, not in the name lists. User IDs will be attached to the individual in question on a permanent basis.

User ID numbers are not the same as the file page number created by the computer programme, as seen in the web page address. Unlike User IDs the file page numbers may change, for example, if two apparently different individuals are merged into one. Those files that have user ID numbers have been more recently reviewed.
