She had been born in Coatbridge and was aged 12 years. She was a scholar still. 3 Catherine married.1 Marriage Notes: "He (Philip de Arbuthnot) married, first, Janet Keith, daughter of Sir William Keith, Great Marischal of Scotland, by his wife Margaret Fraser, and by her had no male issue, but only two daughters, whose names have not been preserved. They are, however, said to have married well, and to have received ample portions without any division of the family estate. It is narrated that after the death of his wife he fell into a heavy disease, and that, being in much distress of mind with regard to the future of his family, he sent for his father-inlaw to visit him.
