  General Notes:

Bernard was the informant of his daughter, Mary's birth before William Richard, registrar, at Holytown on 6 July 1855. The birth certificate recorded that Bernard Short was a master tailor aged 38 years, born in Cloones, County of Leitrim, Ireland. Also, that the couple married at Airdrie in 1854.

In 1866 when his wife, Mary, died, Bernard was recorded as being a tailor. 2


Bernard married Mary BURNS, daughter of John BURNS and Mary BURNS, on 22 Jan 1854 in Bothwell Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Mary BURNS was born about 1819 in County Fermanagh, Ireland and died 25 August 1866 at 8.00 am in Fells Land, Dundyvan, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was diarrhoea over 4 days.


Bernard next married Mary SHORT, daughter of Bernard SHORT and Mary BURNS, on 18 Nov 1813 in Leith South parish, Midlothian, Scotland. (Mary SHORT was born 21 June 1855 at 8.30 pm in Chapelhall, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died in 1870 in Calderhead, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.)
