QUIGLEY, George ⁴

   Cause of his death was cardiac disease and bronchitis.

   Another name for George was TWEDELY, George.⁵

  General Notes:

In 1861 the census recorded George Twedely aged 7 years living with his family in Beith, Ayrshire where he had been born. He was the second of four sons listed and his father's namesake.

George was the informant of his father's death in Kilbirnie in 1876, and he had been present where the death occurred. He made his X mark. His mother had died just a short time before.

George and Bridget Quigley were recorded in the 1891 census living at Long Row, Kilbirnie, with their children. They lived in a house with one windowed room in the Glengarnock district. George was recorded as aged 39 years. He had been born in Beith in Ayrshire and was working as an ironstone miner.

His daughter Annie married in 1897 and George was recorded then as an ironstone miner.

In 1901 George's 13 year old son, George, died from drowning. George senior, noted as an iron miner, notified the registrar at Kilbirnie, T. M. MacMillan, on 18 February 1901.

When he died in 1917, George was recorded as aged 61 years. He was the widower of Bridget Robertson and had been a steel worker. Both of his parents were by then deceased. ^{5 6}

M. S. Anderson MD certified the causes of George's death.

His son, James, gave notice of his father's death. His residence was noted as Barkip, Dalry.

George married Bridget ROBERTSON on 16 Jul 1875 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹ (Bridget ROBERTSON was born about 1855 in Ireland and died between 1897 and 1917.)
