"Mr. Patrick Skene, fourth son to Alexander Skene XI of Skene, commonly called the 'little laird,' by Elizabeth Forbes, his wife. Married on 30th May, 1591, Elspett Mercer, daughter of Laurence Mercer, burgess of Aberdeen; and, on 10th September, 1592, is admitted a burgess of Aberdeen. On 22nd May, 1594, there is a sasine by which

'Providus vir Wilelmus Jak, burgen. de Aberdeen,' grants 'totam et integram terram suam anteriorem australem superius de present! occupat. per magistrum Patricium Skene burgen. dicti burgi, vizt, aulam Cubiculum ly forgalrie cum solio et ly shop & jacen. in vico furcarum ad dandam sasinam prefato Magistro Patricio Skene et Elizabethe Merser ejus sponse.' "
