  General Notes:

In the birth certificate of his daughter Ann in 1855-6 (birth was registered in January of following year) John McMahon was recorded as a boatyard labourer. It was he who registered Ann's birth on 2 January 1856, and had been present where the birth occurred.

John McMahon was a foundry labourer according to his daughter Ann's marriage certificate of 1875.

In Anne McMahon's poor law application of 1879 her father John McMahon was recorded as a labourer in Dubbs engineering firms He resided at Aitkenhead Road and was separated from Mary Hughes, her mother. ^{4 6 7}

John married Mary HUGHES on 15 Aug 1852 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Mary HUGHES was born about 1830 and died after 3 Sep 1875 ⁴.)

John next married Lucinda MILLER, daughter of Alexander MILLER and Susanna BURNS, on 5 May 1701 in Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.^{2 3} (Lucinda MILLER was born on 12 Oct 1874 in Benburb district, County Tyrone, Ireland ⁸.)
