  Marriage Notes:

"The first appearance of Alexander Gordon of Salterhill is in 1625, when he was designed as 'in' and sometimes 'of' Dippill:

1625, July 8. - James Douglas of Dippill, having sold Kirktoun of Dippill to Walter Innes, son lawful to Mr John Innes of Cokistoun and Jean Gordon, his spouse, on 8 May, 1621, redeemable for 2000 merks, and said Walter Innes having sold his right to Alexander Gordon, now in Dippill, said James Douglas, with consent of Mr Alexander Douglas, his eldest son, confirms Kirktoun of Dippill to said Alexander Gordon by deed dated at Elgin, 8 July. 1625, and recorded in the Elgin Sasines Register, 9 July, 1625."

from Gordons of Salterhill

"John (Innes) had two wives, firstly to Margaret Kinnaird of Culbin (15/12/1586) and then to Margaret Gordon of Gight, daughter of William Gordon."

from History of Coxton Tower

Note:

Either this second wife of John Innes is not mentioned at all by secondary sources or her given name is uncertain. The Gordons of Salterhill calls her Jean, The History of Coxton Tower name her as Margaret. In the latter text, Malcolm Christie identifies her as being a daughter of William Gordon of the Gight family.

If her father was William Gordon, and he is considered to be the laird of Gight, then there is a problem, since that William Gordon already had a daughter named Jean who was married, twice, to husbands of other Gordon families. Nor is any daughter of this laird named by Bulloch as Margaret, nor any daughter listed as marrying a John Innes.
