The 1851 census for Bothwell parish in Lanarkshire recorded a Daniel and Mary McConvil with their son, two daughters and a lodger, Margaret McCanna, unmarried, aged 26 years, a needlewoman, born in Ireland, living near the London to Glasgow Road in the 19th enumeration district.

Daniel was aged 65 years and was an agricultural labourer. He had been born in Ireland.

Daniel was a labourer, according to the marriage certificate of his daughter Catherine in 1855.Daniel and Mary Convill were recoded by the 1871 census for Chapelhall, living at Boness Road. they were recorded as 85 and 86 years old respectively. Both were born in Ireland. Daniel was a pauper.

In the death certificate of his wife Mary in 1872 Daniel was recorded as a pauper. He had previously been an agricultural labourer. ^{2 3 4}

Daniel married Mary VALLELY, daughter of James VALLELY and Mary GOREMAN. (Mary VALLELY was born about 1785 in Ireland ^{2 4} and died 30 November 1872 at 7.00 pm in Chapelhall, Bothwell Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁴.). The cause of her death was old age over 4 years.

Daniel next married John GORDON in Corncatrach, son of Assorted GORDONS in Gartly parish, Banffshire and Unknown, on 29 Jul 1770 in Glenbucket Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ (John GORDON in Corncatrach was born about 1705.)
