General Notes: "In 1632, Captain John Strachan was a Captain of Horse in Alexander Leslie's [SSNE 2916] regiment in Russian service in the mid 1630s.... John married Kathleen McGONAGLE, daughter of Michael McGONAGLE and Mary McGONAGLE MS UNKNOWN.1 (Kathleen McGONAGLE was born about 1893 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.) Marriage Notes: "He (James Gordon) marr., prior to admission, Margaret (died 14th April 1792), daugh. of James Lumsden, min. of Towie, and had issue Jean, born 27th May 1772; Alexander, chaplain at Fort-George, born 4th Oct. 1773, died 1st Jan. 1800; Mary, born 6th Oct. 1775, died 17th March 1801.
