Sarah Quigley, maiden surname McGinnes, was recorded in her daughter Mary's 1855 birth certificate as aged 23 years and born in County Donegal, Ireland. Mary was her first child. 5


Sarah married Dennis QUIGLEY, son of Hugh QUIGLEY and Mary McGUIRE, on 19 Feb 1855 in Middle Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 2 3 (Dennis QUIGLEY was born on 13 Dec 1833 in Eschine, County Derry, Ireland 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the forms and rites of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest who married the couple was Hugh Chisholm RCC of East Shaw Street, Greenock. The witnesses were Henry McGuire and Mary Haggarty, who made her X mark.

Dennis Quigley's usual residence was recorded as 15 Market Street, Greenock. He was aged 21 years, unmarried, and worked as a hammerman. He was born and registered in the parish of Eschine (sic), County Derry in Ireland on 13 December 1833. Both of his parents were still alive.

Sarah McGinnis lived at 20 Low Shaw Street, Greenock. She was unmarried, aged 22 years, and worked as a dressmaker. Her parents were alive. Sarah made her X mark. She was born and registered in County Donegal, Ireland on 16 February 1832.

The marriage was registered at Greenock on February 20 1855, Robert Campbell being the signing registrar. 3
