"He (John Wemyss) married, sometime before 1448, and in terms of an agreement of 19 November 1429, Margaret Livingstone, daughter of Sir Robert Livingstone of Drumry, but for some reason they were divorced in 1489. They parted amicably and she died about 1494 .... Sir John and his first wife had issue"
