General Notes: James Berry, Terence Feely's son in law who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of his death before Thomas Steele, registrar, at Wishaw on 25 September 1893. James married Rose FEELY, daughter of Terence FEELY and Helen KEENAN, on 22 Apr 1889 in RC Chapel, Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Rose FEELY was born 14 July 1858 at 7.00 am in Rumblingsykes, Parish of Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Scotland 6 7.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. John Taylor CC celebrated the marriage. The witnesses were Joseph and Bridget Haughey. James next married.2 Marriage Notes: "After the death of the said William and John Gordons father and son the said James Gordon a Student then at the Colledge succeeded to the Estate of Rotheymey. He married the Laird of Pittfoddells daughter Menzies, with whom he begat sons and daughters, his eldest son John Gordon Laird of Rothemey and Representative of the family of Cairnborrow." |
