In 1851 Isaac was aged 9 years. He lived with his parents and four siblings in Calton.

The Post Office Directory for Glasgow 1881-1882 lists
'LYNAS, Isaac, hairdresser, 181 Trongate; house 63 Abercromby street.'
This probably referred to this Isaac Lynas. In the 1881 census, his father Joshua lived at 71 Abercromby Street, in the east end of Glasgow. ^{5 6}

Isaac married Letitia BENNION on 18 Oct 1864 in 586 Gallowgate, Glasgow, Scotland.¹ (Letitia BENNION was born about 1842.)
