General Notes:
In 1881 the census recorded Owen as aged 12 years and a scholar.
In 1892 Owen Vallely gave notice of his father's death.
The 1901 census for Newmains in Cambusnethan parish Lanarkshire recorded Owen Vallely as the son of the head of the house, William Vallely, a man aged 50 years. We know from other sources that Owen's father was Francis, not William, and that he had died in 1892, so this man William was possibly a brother or other relative of Francis caring for the children in the household. William was in fact recorded as the 'housekeeper. Owen was recorded as 30 years of age and born in Ireland. He worked as a prudential agent. The household lived at Kirkland's Land in Newmains.
Owen Vallely, son of Alice Connelly, who had been present where her death occurred, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, Thomas Steele, at Wishaw on 19 May 1925. 2 4 5 6
Owen married Catrean McCANN, daughter of John McCANN and Catharine DOCHARTY, on 16 Oct 1681.7 8 9 10 (Catrean McCANN was born about 1839 in Ayrshire, Scotland 11.)
