  General Notes:

John Quigley, a factory worker aged 14 years, was recorded living in the household of his widowed mother at Whytes Square Paisley by the 1881 census. He had been born in Nitshill. ²

John married John STRACHAN, son of William STRACHAN farmer in Robslaw and Marjorie LEITH, about 13 Oct 1579.³ (John STRACHAN was christened on 26 Feb 1729 in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.)

  Marriage Notes:

"His (William Sutherland's) first wife, whom he married about 13 October 1579, was Margaret, a younger daughter of George Sinclair, Earl of Caithness."
