  General Notes:

Ann Valliday was aged 12 years when recorded by the 1851 census for Newmains in Cambusnethan parish. She had been born in New Monkland parish Lanarkshire and worked as a tambourer.

Ann Vallely was one of the sponsors at the baptism of Margaret McCallum by Father John Black at Carluke on 26 October 1851. Margaret was the unlawful daughter of John McCallum and Ann Nisbet of Newmains and had been born on 1 October 1851. The second sponsor was Patrick Gallagher.

Ann was an unmarried woman of 19 years, living with her parents at Portland Iron Works, when the 1861 census for Riccarton parish recorded them. She had been born in Monkland (sic) Lanarkshire. 4 6 7


Ann married Patrick GOLDIE, son of Patrick GOLDIE and Ann McMAHON, in 1628.1 (Patrick GOLDIE was born on 1 Nov 1889 in 23 Kirk Street, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland 8 and died on 9 Feb 1890 in 311 Cumberland Street, Glasgow, Scotland 8.). The cause of his death was debility from birth.5


  Marriage Notes:

"III. Gilbert Skene of Dyce was a burgess of Aberdeen, and married, in 1628, Marjorie Buchan, daughter of William Buchan of Auchmacoy, who succeeded to one half of the lands of Dyce. On 8th December, 1628, Gilbert Skene, burgess of Aberdeen, is infeft in the just and equal half of the barony of Dyce, and also in the Kirkton of Dyce, and on 6th January, 1629, in the half town and lands of Pitmedden."

Ann next married Owen WOODS on 26 Aug 1861 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.2 (Owen WOODS was born about 1840 and died after 9 Jan 1877 5.)
