   Another name for James was McCRUDEN, James.

  General Notes:

James was a boot and shoe maker. In his wife's application for parish relief, he was accused of having taken to drink somewhat and gone off and left his wife and children. The birth of more children after this suggests his desertion was either a polite fiction or a reconciliation was effected. ⁵

James married Mary LYNAS, daughter of Owen LYNAS and Esther LOUGHRAN, on 30 Jul 1866 in St Alphonsus RC Chapel, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland.¹ (Mary LYNAS was born in Ireland and was christened on 29 May 1849 in Armagh RC Parish, County Armagh, Ireland ⁶.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Catholic Church. J. Carlin was the priest who celebrated the union. The witnesses were Bernard Lynas and Catherine Kennedy, both of who made their X mark.

James was a bachelor, aged 26 years, of 94 Gallowgate Glasgow. He was a shoemaker journeyman. He made his X mark. His father Matthew was deceased and his mother was still living.

Mary Lynas was also unmarried. She was a housekeeper of 19 years of age, residing at 94 Gallowgate Glasgow. Her father was dead and her mother still alive. She too made her X mark.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 7 August 1866, John Hamilton being the registrar. ¹

James next married Ann Jane LYNASS, daughter of Owen LYNAS and Esther LOUGHRAN.^{2 3} (Ann Jane LYNASS was born about 1838 in Ireland.)
