William married Margaret CURRIE, daughter of CURRIE and MALONE, on 22 Jun 1856 in Old Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Margaret CURRIE was born about 1831 and died in 1857 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland 7.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was William Gordon, RC Clergyman. The witnesses were Hugh Quigley, who made his X mark, and Bridget McCann, who made her X mark.

William Quigley was aged 25 years and unmarried. He worked as a coal labourer. His address was Adamson Road, back entry. He made his X mark.

Margaret Currie also made her X mark. She too was 25 years old, and her address was Back Entry. She was single and was a cotton mill worker. Her mother, whose name was recorded as 'not known', was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 4 July 1856 at Greenock, John Hislop being the signing registrar.

William next married Joseph QUINN, son of Francis QUINN and Rose Ann VALLELY, about 1345.2 (Joseph QUINN was born on 13 May 1871 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"He (John Drummond) is usually said to have died in 1373, but no evidence has been found that he survived till then. He is said to have married Mary Montefichet, the eldest daughter of Sir William Montefichet of Auchterarder and Cargill, and this seems probable, though there is no direct evidence. Also, as he apparently died before 1361, it is not improbable that Sir William Fraser is right in identifying him as the John Drummond of Concraig who married, about 1359, Margaret, Countess of Menteith, and who died before September 1361. There is no certain evidence, and, as already indicated, they may be different men, uncle and nephew."

from Scots Peerage (vol 7)

"Mary resigned her rights as Montefichet's heir to Sir John Drummond in 1345, suggesting a marriage took place between them around this time."
