DONALDSON, Henry 3
Cause of his death was bronchopneumonia. Another name for Henry was DONALDSON, Harry.4 General Notes: This is probably the man 'Harry Donaldson' whose story was known to family who had had no personal knowledge of him. Reputedly he was sent down the pit to work and hated it. He got an engineering apprenticeship at Babcock and Wilcox after starting by sweeping floors. Supposedly he became wealthy from an invention or development that was adopted universally in the making of boilers. He became a Justice of the Peace in later life and entered gardening and photographic competitions. Medical Notes: R. Watkins certified the cause of death. Henry married Jeanie Reid McBRIDE, daughter of Doalty McBRIDE and Jane REID, on 14 Jul 1904 in St James RC Church, Renfrew, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Jeanie Reid McBRIDE was born about 1879.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Robert J. McCluskey. The witnesses were Daniel McBride and Margaret McBride. Henry next married.2 Marriage Notes: "Robert Farquharson .... marr. Margaret (marr. (2) William Black of Haddo, regent, Aberdeen and died before 24th Jan. 1758, when her testament was confirmed), daugh. of Alexander Leith of Craighall" Henry next married Christiana Lucy MILLAR.
