General Notes: According to the birth certificate of his son James in 1888, of which he was the informant, James Menzies was a labourer. James married Agnes THOMSON on 14 Nov 1881 in Leslie, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Agnes THOMSON was born about 1850.) James next married Alexander Thompson MENZIES, son of James MENZIES and Agnes THOMSON.1 (Alexander Thompson MENZIES was born on 21 Oct 1893 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland,.) Marriage Notes: "Of his daughters .... Janet married James Duncan of Merdrum. She and her husband lie under a slab, carved with their effigies and armorial bearings, in the little ruined kirk of Essie, close to Lesmoir." |
