DONALDSON, William ²

  General Notes:

In the Church Baptism record transcribed and made available by the Irish Family History Foundation, William Donaldson, son of James Donaldson and M. A. Carson was recorded as baptised on 8 May 1855 by Reverend J. Crickard. The baptism was a Roman Catholic one in the parish or district of Ballygalget in County Down, Ireland. There were two baptismal sponsors. The first was W. Donaldson and the second was Elizabeth Mageean.

Ballygalget is in the Ards peninsula just over a mile from Ardkeen.

William married Elizabeth DOUDS, daughter of Mathew DOUDS and Bridget McMANUS, on 21 Feb 1873 in Irvine parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Elizabeth DOUDS was born on 20 Nov 1855 in Irvine parish, Ayrshire, Scotland ³ and died in 1939 in Springburn, Glasgow, Scotland ⁴.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Thomas Keane, Catholic Clergyman. The witnesses were Alexander McCann and Mary McDonald.

The bridegroom was an unmarried man of 18 years of age who was a coal miner. He lived in Irvine parish.

The bride, who made her X mark, was unmarried and also aged 18 years. She was a domestic servant who lived in Irvine parish.

The marriage was registered at Irvine on 22 February 1873.

William next married Frederick KANE, son of Frederick KANE and Mrs KANE MS UNKNOWN, before 21 Jul 1519.¹ (Frederick KANE was born about 1826 ⁵ and died after 1887.)
