George married Mary McKENDRICK, daughter of Alexander McKENDRICK and Ann McMILLAN, on 16 Oct 1874 in Whitletts, St Quivox parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹ (Mary McKENDRICK was christened on 19 Feb 1841 in Killean and Kilchenzie Parish, Argyll, Scotland ³.)

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. James Wilson, Minister of St Quivox, was the presiding minister. William Clark and Elizabeth Clark were the witnesses.

The bridegroom was a ploughman by occupation. He was single and aged 26 years. He lived in Ardrossan

The bride also lived in Ardrossan. She was single and aged 24 years. She worked as a house servant. She made her X mark.

The marriage was registered at St Quivox on 19 October 1874. ¹

George next married Catherine GRAY.² (Catherine GRAY was born about 1855.)

"He (James Forbes) married Egidia, second daughter of William Keith, first Earl Marischal, who survived him, and was still a widow on 14 August 1473, when she exchanged her terce of 8 merks from the lands of Cluny, co. Perth, for so much from the lands of Forbes. They had issue"
