"Nov. 11 1558 Thomas Cumyn married Margaret, daughter of Sir Alexander Gordon of Strathdon, who was the third son of the third Earl of Huntly (Alexander Gordon). By her he had three sons: 1, Alexander; 2, David ; 3, James, who became the heir.

In Registrum Moraviensis, 411, we find 'Carta feodifirmae ab Episcopo cum consenso capituli concessa Thomae Cumyng de Alter, et Margareta Gordon, ejus spousse, terrarum de Logygowne, Ardovy, Dolesbrachty, Clunerny, cum piscaria in Acqua de Findorne, in vie. de Elgin et Forres. Apud Sconan et Elgin, Julii 1561.' " (page 463)
