John married Flora McKENDRICK, daughter of John McKENDRICK and Sibby KELLY, on 29 Jun 1799 in Killean and Kilchenzie Parish, Argyll, Scotland.¹ (Flora McKENDRICK was born about 1779-1780, died 31 October 1857 at 2.00 pm in Glencardach, Killean and Kilchenzie, Argyll, Scotland and was buried in Brackly Burial Ground, Carradale, Argyll, Scotland.). The cause of her death was infirmities of age.

John next married John FOX.² (John FOX was born about 1845.)

"James Gordon, III. of Abergeldie.

(Son of II. : killed at Pinkie, 1547.)

On April 24, 1523, the young laird, 'having arrived at the years of "discretion and marriage," petitioned his guardian [Walter Ogilvie in Boyne] that he might be "coupled" in lawful matrimony. Ogilvie . . . offered him his choice of two damsels in every respect equal to himself Janet Sinclair and Elizabeth Ogilvie' (Records of Aboyne, p. 221). But he scorned them both and married Janet Leith, daughter and coheir of George Leith of Barnes, and widow of Alexander Seton of Meldrum. He was returned heir to his father only on October 6, 1534. In 1528 he had confirmation of a charter by John Stewart, Earl of Buchan (his uncle or grandfather), of the lands of Grandoum, Auchmull, Perslie, and others (Great Seal)."
