It is not strictly true that he was a Writer to the Signet. He is referred to as a 'writer', that is a solicitor, and he was based in Edinburgh, but he is not named in A history of the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet.

He appears to have been generally known as Patrick, the fornames Patrick and Peter being more or less interchangeable often in Scots and Irish culture. ^{1 4}

Susanna next married Alexander MILLER, son of Alexander MILLER and Unknown, on 23 Nov 1871 in Derrygortreavy Church of Ireland Parish, Clonfeacle, County Tyrone, Ireland.² (Alexander MILLER was born about 1849 ².)
