  General Notes:

'Mary Rourke', according to the 1881 census, was born in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, and was aged 28 years.

Mary O'Rourke, widow, who had been present where the death occurred, gave notice of her husband's death before the registrar, Gregor Grant, at Coatbridge on 3 April 1908. 3


Mary married James O'ROURKE, son of Patrick O'ROURKE and Mary BURNS, on 30 December 1870 in The Manse, Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (James O'ROURKE was born about 1850 in Ireland and died 3 April 1908 at 6.30 am in 226 Back Street, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was influenza over 2 months and acute bronchitis over 1 month.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns, according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The minister was P. Cameron Black, minister of Old Monkland.

James Rork, who made his X mark, was an unmarried man of 21 years, of Brown Square, Langloan. He worked as a coal miner. Both of his parents were deceased.

Mary Hodges was also unmarried and was aged 18 years. She too was of Langloan. Both of her parents were alive.

The witnesses were John Lindsay and Jane Morris. The marriage was registered on 2 January 1871 at Coatbridge, James Mitchell being the registrar. 1 2
