HAMILTON, James
General Notes: The 1880 US Census for Township 158 And 159, Pembina, Dakota Territory recorded a James, aged 50 years, a Janet Hamilton, aged 48 years, and a Hugh Hamilton, aged 11 years, living in a household whose head was Robert Tweedlie, aged 29 years, possibly the Robert Tweedlie who was brother of Janet. The adults had all been born in Scotland. Hugh was born in Canada but his parents were Scots born. The two men were farmers. Also living there were Henry and Augustine Upham. James married Janet TWEEDLIE, daughter of William TWEEDLIE and Margaret BRAND, on 26 July 1846 in Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Janet TWEEDLIE was born about 1831 in Scotland.) |
