Cause of her death was chronic bronchitis.

"PARISH RELIEF APPLICATION
Catherine Quigley applied for parish relief on July 30 1878 at 3.20 pm. Her address was 30 South Coburg Street, ground (Morrison). She was aged 35 and single. She was born in County Down, Ireland, and was a Roman Catholic. Her parents, both of whom were dead, were Anthony Quigley and Mary Dowdy. Her occupation was 'white sewer'. She was partly disabled by a bad cough.
The inspector's report of July 1878, which followed, stated that Catherine Quigley had applied for medical relief only, which was granted. A note to this effect was included.
There follows the details of Settlement 17 October 1878:

In Catherine's death certificate of 1878 she was recorded as a 'pauper formerly white seam sewer'. She was single and aged 35 years. She had resided formerly at 30 South Coburg Street Glasgow. Both of her parents were then deceased. 1

N. MacFarlane MD certified the cause of death.
Wm. Baillie, Poorhouse Governor's, assistant, gave notice of Catherine's death before Thomas Steele, registrar, at Govan on 15 November 1878.
