  General Notes:

The 1881 census for Old Monkland parish recorded 'James Vallery' (sic) and his family living at 1 Close Summerlee Buildings. As well as himself and his wife, the household comprised their three children, and a lodger James Mooney, aged 23 years, born in Ireland, and working as a geneal labourer. James was born in Ireland and recorded as aged 40 years. He too was a general labourer.
